La Signora dei Mary (Lady of the seas)

Updated: Apr 16, 2023

After qualifying as a lawyer and working 15 years in international cooperation in various countries, I returned to Sicily in 2010 and decided to apply for the unlimited boating license. I participated in several offshore regattas and with a sailor friend we sailed in Sardinia, Corsica and Elba Island.

Three years ago, I took the big decision, to turn my passion for the sea and sailing into a profession. When the wind changes, you just need to know how to adjust the sails.

In 2018 I started my first charters as a skipper and sailor between the Aeolian Islands and the Egadi Islands and I worked as a skipper for two months in a private catamaran sailing for the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily, Tunisia, Malta, Greece and Turkey.

In November 2018 I decided to leave for the Canary Islands to experience sailing in the ocean and also to let the winter pass. I am more prone to mild temperatures. In February, after a lot of study and commitment and three intense days of examination, I get Yacht Master Offshore Certificate

In November 2019, I thought it was time to face the ocean and I made my first Atlantic crossing on Ginger Cat, a 14-meter catamaran, with 5 other crew members. 2800 miles in 19 days of just ocean without touching land, from Tenerife to Barbados.

Last stop of my journey, Antigua, where I began to get to know the world of super yachts, my future goal.

In the meantime, I was lucky enough to participate in the RORC 600, a 600-mile regatta around the Caribbean islands, with an all-female crew of 6. I couldn't ask for anything better.

In 2020 my first year as a sailor in a 24-meter luxury sailboat, to navigate the Mediterranean.

In April 2021 I crossed again the Ocean from Tenerife to Gibraltar and than the Mediterranean sea from Gibraltar to Sardinia, on the helm of Vida Loka a catamaran of 14 metres. In the last 3 years I'm on board of Vida loka exploring Sardinia Coast.

In march 2023 I got the Ocean Yacht Master Certificate.

Every year we add a small stretch of sea to increase my knowledge and experience. Constant study and practice and a lot of perseverance are excellent ingredients to achieve your goals. Everything always spinkle with a pinch of adventure.
